Room 1 at The Lorax Movie

All the proud 'Rito badgers' (children earn a Rito badge by being Responsible, Independent, Thoughtful and Onto it) went to the movies on Friday.  

We had lots of fun and a great time . . . with home made popcorn!  

A Big Thank you to our lovely mums who helped with transport, supervision

and the popcorn . . . yummmy . . . that was so nice!

Snow Day

A light snowfall early this morning, creates a dusting of snow and covers our school, the whole of Christchurch and most of Canterbury, today.  We had to close the school for the day . . . so kids can have fun and play in the snow . . . no, not really!  

Otukaikino Wetlands

Our theme for this year is LIFE

We went to the Otukaikino Wetlands in Christchurch to look at HABITATS of different animals in the wetlands.
We investigated how living things have different environmental needs like shelter, food, water, love/nurture and freedom.

Sneeze Safe

On Wednesday 24 May Room 1 from Richmond school had a visit from CTV and from Dr Lance Jennings, virologist with CDHB. St John came to visit Room 1 at Richmond Primary School.   We learnt how to stay safe and to dial 111 if there is an emergency.  We had heaps of fun and learnt a lot.  

The St John Safe Kids programme gave us an understanding of emergencies, as well as how and when to call an ambulance.

City Library Visit

We had very special visitors from

the city library who got us all

Green Screen

Our senior class have been using green screen technology to present their reports.

Last Thursday room one had a chance to use the green screen. 

Then room one created a background to support their reports.

This was our first attempt.

Today we, the teachers of Richmond School, learned how to blog.  Urghhhhh what a day!!!
