What's Happening Outside Our School?

Riley demonstrating what the workers wear.

 Downer Construction

Two weeks ago we had a visit from SCRIT and Downer Construction to talk about what would be happening outside our school in the coming weeks. We learnt about what the workers would be wearing. We learnt how they were going to make our rivers safe from pollution. We played a game called Ladders and Pipes and then we took a walk down the road to see what the diggers and trucks were doing.
Tasha is showing us the special material used
to soak up oil from the road.

Rahil, Tristan and Jordan playing Ladders and Pipes

Wow! What a huge digger.

Welcome to 2013

Welcome back to another school year. I hope you have been soaking in this beautiful summer and have had a fun filled holiday and break. During my holidays I spent most of my time at home with my family, with day trips to the basketball courts, swimming pool and shops. I enjoyed Christmas and New Years with the extended family in Christchurch and I am trying to get fit (again!). I am so happy to be at Richmond School this year and I can’t wait to be part of this wonderful community.

R.I.S.E

This year our ‘Motto’  is  R.I.S.E where each of these letters stand for the values and mind set in which we intend to conduct ourselves.

  • Recognise - To know ourselves and we recognise how we fit.
  • Inspire - Excitement gives rise to new ideas
  • Share - Sharing ideas stretches the boundaries.
  • Engage - Caring citizens contribute by leading the way.

Each term we will be focusing on one value.

This term we will be looking at ourselves, our families, our community to understand where we fit.
